The wide application of machine vision systems is an inevitable result of the development of industrial automation. As a key component of high-precision detection and measurement of machine vision systems, telecentric lenses have irreplaceable application advantages under certain conditions, enabling machine vision systems to achieve measurement effect.
To a certain extent, it can be said that telecentric lenses are a powerful driving force for the development of machine vision automation. The main reasons are as follows.
If the objects measured by the ordinary lens are not on the same plane, the magnification needs to be adjusted, while the image magnification of the telecentric lens does not change due to the change of the object's distance. Therefore, when detecting objects that are not in the same plane, a telecentric lens is required.
The telecentric lens has the characteristics of high depth of field, and the depth of field reflects the distance range that the object can be clearly imaged after the lens is focused. Once the object exceeds the depth of field of the lens, the image will become blurred, and the high depth of field can still have excellent sharpness when viewing thick objects. Therefore, when detecting objects with thickness, where the thickness is greater than 1/10 of the FOV diameter, a telecentric lens is required.
Since the lens is within a certain object distance range, its image magnification can not change with the change of the object distance, so there will be no perspective distortion or image position error problems that occur when using ordinary lenses. Then, even when observing the objects inside the deep hole, it can be clearly seen. Therefore, when inspecting three-dimensional objects or apertures, telecentric lenses are more suitable.
When the observation requires low distortion, the image effect needs to be consistent in brightness, and the defects can only be detected in the same direction through parallel lighting, it is also an ideal choice to use a machine vision telecentric lens.
